Looklyn: From ‘soft colors’ to ‘extremely extreme’
In this series we hold a mirror up to the borough to ask what we can learn about what we're wearing. Today, meet Darnell Bernard
Personal style isn’t the same thing as fashion. It’s … more personal. It’s rooted in self, an outward expression of attitude, vibe, swag, panache, aspiration, time and place. In this semi-regular series called Looklyn, we hold a mirror up to the borough to show us how we dress now … and what it tells us about who we are.
Here, photographer Johnny Cirillo, introduces us to Darnell Bernard, read more about him below:
Name: Darnell Bernard
Age: 30
Occupation: Actor, musician
Where are you heading?: I live in the area and spend a lot of my time walking around, zoning out listening to music while taking in the energy around me.
About the fit: I usually base my outfits on my emotions. I can wear something extremely extreme if I feel like I need attention, or soft colors if I’m feeling shy.
About Darnell: I take friendships seriously. I have a natural gift of empathy which can be pretty cool when getting to know someone you like or annoying AF if you’re around someone with bad vibes. I’m also not good when writing ‘About Me’ bios. That’s why I wouldn’t join dating apps.
