As live music returns to the city, Bushwick will get a new kind of venue

Most ordinary live music venues don’t have a pool on their roof as a perk for musicians who play there. But then, Brooklyn Made aspires to be a little more than the ordinary music venue.

Brooklyn Made will celebrate its opening in Bushwick on September 30 with a splash: a two-night run of shows featuring Grammy-award winning Wilco guitarist Jeff Tweedy. Greg Dulli and Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue will also perform the club’s opening week.

The state-of-the-art venue has turned what once was a mysterious warehouse building on Troutman Street into a club seeking to lead New York City out of the pandemic darkness—all while redefining what a music venue can be.

The club, operated by Brooklyn Made Presents, will comprise Standing Room, a coffee house/café during daytime hours and a full kitchen cocktail/tapas bar from the afternoon to late evening. At night, a connecting bar named Connie’s, which features an indoor section and outdoor courtyard/rooftop, will ensure that Brooklyn Made offers nearly 24 hours of entertainment—even on days when there are no live performances.

For artists, Brooklyn Made will offer more than a dingy green room. Artists will have the opportunity to stay at the venue’s loft apartment that offers a private pool and a stunning view of the New York City skyline.

“Some venues know how to do it right; some don’t” Brooklyn Made Presents partner Kelly Winrich tells The New York Times. “The bells and whistles with this place are so far ahead of anything we’ve ever seen and we know—every single artist and fan that comes here—is going to be blown away by the experience,” adds Brooklyn Made Presents founder Anthony Makes, a former of Live Nation Entertainment executive.
