Friday August 6
Live at Dumbo Archway: The Woes
5 to 7 p.m.
The Woes perform folk, jazz, soul, and blues songs all written by their multifaceted frontman, Osei Essed.
Buffy Sainte-Marie at BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn
6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Last week Ari Lennox brought out J Cole for a surprise appearance at her Celebrate Brooklyn, so there’s no telling who Buffy Sainte-Marie might invite. A leading voice in climate activism and social justice since the 1960s, Sainte-Marie has been an indigenous Canadian-American folk-rock icon for more than half a century. Opening for her will be singer-songwriter and activist Naia Kete at the Prospect Park Bandshell
Saturday August 7
BRIC Family Show
Doors 2:30 p.m, show 3:30 p.m
BRIC is also bringing a family show to the Prospect Park bandshell this weekend, featuring Latin alternative quartet LADAMA, Haitian-born, Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist Tiga Jean Baptiste, and DJ Ali Coleman with opening and closing sets.
Brooklyn Museum First Saturday Lite
2 to 6 p.m.
Hosted by John Edmonds, Brooklyn Museum’s First Saturday Light for the month of August will feature performances by DJ Lovaboi with Michael the Pannist and Tygapa in the Museum Plaza, and djFRiTZo followed by harpist Brandee Younger at the museum’s beer garden. The outdoor event is free and open to all. Some tickets will be available in-person the day of but the Museum is asking all guests to reserve their tickets.
Seltzerland
11 a.m to 8 p.m
White Claw before noon? Hey, this is a judgment-free zone. More than 100 different hard seltzers will be available for sampling at the Expo Center, along with games, photobooths, and free swag drops with food available for purchase on site. Tickets are available for $52 for either afternoon (11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.) or evening (5:30-8 p.m.) time slots. VIP tickets give you access from 2-5 p.m, which gets you extra drinks and food.
Dear Summer BBQ
4 to 10 p.m.
The 11th annual Dear Summer BBQ is this Saturday at the Coney Art Walls at 3050 Stillwell Ave. This year’s festivities feature DJ Boof, DJ Madout, DJ Dre, and DJ Addi and $60 tickets give you food, too, from 4 to 7 p.m. Adult beverages are available for purchase with cash and organizers are encouraging guests to arrive early.
International Day of Perreo
4 to 10 p.m.
Exactly a year after Reggaeton musicians Jowell and Randy released their album “Viva El Perreo” and declared August 7 the International day of Perreo, NYCReggaeton and RND are hosting a dance party to celebrate. Sets will be hosted by DJ Leon, DJ Narco, DJ Guari, DJ Pipe, Riobamba, and Frank Roth in The Paper Box on 17 Meadow Street in East Williamsburg. Tacos will be served after 9 p.m. and tickets are $30.
Caribbean Beach Fest
Doors 7 p.m.
Live Nation is hosting a Caribbean Beach Fest in the Amphitheater at the Coney Island Boardwalk on 3052 West 21st Street. Performing musicians include Dexta Daps and Lyrikal. Tickets start at $83.
Rooftop Films
Doors at 8 p.m, Q&A to follow at 10:40 p.m
Rooftop Films is presenting two films at the Brooklyn Army Terminal in Sunset Park this Saturday as part of their 2021 Summer Series. “Not Going Quietly,” directed by Nicholas Bruckman is about the life of Ady Barkan after his diagnosis of ALS and viral confrontation with Senator Jeff Flake. The second film, “The Box,” directed by Shal Ngo and James Burns follows three people who have spent a combined nine years in solitary, one of whom co-directed the film.
Popped Collar Comedy
7 p.m and 9 p.m
Each Saturday, up-and-coming Brooklyn comedians perform a free show at House Party Cafe & Lounge at in Bushwick. This week the first show is being hosted by Sarah Garner featuring the comics Gianmarco Soresei, Ashton Womack,Claire Alexander, Hans Kim, Reilly Gilmore, Stephen Bolles and Dan Wickes. The second show will be hosted by Stephen Bolles and features Andrew Casertano, Andrea Allan Marlon, Jean-Baptiste Amamah, and Dan Abraham. Hot Honey Sunday

Free outdoor dance parties get down each Sunday during the summer at 2 Noble Street, at the Greenpoint Terminal Market. Resident deejays, JKriv, DeoJorge, and AnnaCollecta, will perform sets on the massive dancefloor that offers sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline. The event is BYOB and food is available at the market.
Brooklyn Children’s Museum Free Admission
4 to 7 p.m
The world’s oldest children’s museum is opening its doors this Sunday for any and all Brooklynites looking to enjoy three floors of family-oriented interactive exhibits. The Crown Heights museum is best for children between the ages of 6 months to 10 years and is located at 145 Brooklyn Ave.

Ramy Youssef, creator and star of the acclaimed Hulu comedy series “Ramy,” is performing comedy sets at the Bell House, at 149 7th Street in Gowanus. Tickets are $42 and proof of vaccination is required for this indoor event.
