Know your true crime show!
Brooklyn-based New Yorker cartoonist Hilary Campbell tees up an excerpt from her debut graphic novel, 'Murder Book'
You know when you’re talking to your mom about some murder story you saw on TV and you’re like “Was that on ‘Dateline?’ Or was it ’20/20?’ Is there even a difference?” Of course there’s a difference! But in the world of true crime, where every show basically has the same format, give or take an intensely blue camera filter… sometimes that difference can be hard to spot. When I was putting together the history of true crime for “Murder Book,” I realized I needed to include a flowchart to help my fellow true crime junkies figure out exactly which show they did watch last Sunday night over wine and popcorn.
Campbell will hold a book launch for the debut of her graphic memoir, “Murder Book,” Tuesday November 9 at LittleField (635 Sackett street). Featured in this year’s New York Comedy Festival, the book tour kicks off with a night of comedy and music featuring Anna Drezen, Karen Chee, Christiana Jackson, and Natasha Vaynblat. Tickets include a signed copy of the book. Doors at 7 p.m., show at 8 p.m.
