Scenes from the horny ‘Bodies Bodies Bodies’ premiere In Fort Greene Park
A24's Gen-Z all-star slasher comedy cast was joined by hundreds of fans for the special Rooftop Films screening
Here’s the setup: A group of not-unattractive twentysomethings gather on a remote estate for a hurricane party and play a “murder game” called “Bodies Bodies Bodies” right before the power goes out. What could possibly go wrong? Well seeing as “Bodies Bodies Bodies” the movie is an A24 release, uh, pretty much everything. And in nasty, hilarious ways.
Tuesday night “Bodies Bodies Bodies” had its New York premiere at an outdoor screening in Fort Greene Park, and hundreds of fans, as well most of the cast, turned out for the fake-friends, horror-film fun. The event was organized by A24, Rooftop Films, and the Fort Greene Park Conservancy. DJ Niks kept the big crowd bopping on their blankets before the show, and the VIP section, which came equipped with snacks from Edy’s Grocery and A24 swag, was packed as well.
Ryan Fecskovics, who lives in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, was first on the non-VIP line to get in,. “I love A24 and I love all the actresses in this film,” he told Brooklyn Magazine. “I love that it’s just a bunch of young women in a movie. That’s kind of my vibe, I love female-led films. Plus this has a female director, and it looks like an interesting commentary on social media, and it’s also a slasher film.”
“Bodies Bodies Bodies” is directed by Halina Reijn, with a Gen-Z-heavy cast that includes “Saturday Night Live” star Pete Davidson, Amandla Stenberg (who played Rue in “Hunger Games”), Maria Bakalova (Borat’s fake daughter Tutar Sagdiyev), comedian and Vine star Conner O’Malley, Chase Sui Wonders from HBO’s “Genera+ion,” Rachel Sennott from “Shiva Baby” (who at one point exhorted the crowd to “get horny,” Myha’la Herrold from “Industry,” and Lee Pace from “Halt and Catch Fire.”
Elan Ma, who lives in Bed-Stuy and goes to Parsons, was one of the first people on the lawn. “Oh my god I love Rachel Sennot,” she said. “’Shiva Baby’ was incredible, and Amandla Stenberg’s been my celebrity crush forever. I love thrillers, comedies, and horror movies. I physically react when there are jump scares and I love it. I love the thrill. I love movies that make me feel something, whether pain, or fear, or happiness. I love when art moves you.”
