Apparently, this weekend is for the millennials: There’s a Myspace-themed dance party at Brooklyn Bowl tonight, so grab your Top 8 and don’t be late.
Also this weekend: Spanish aerialists Vaivén Circo bring their circus “Esencial” for kids to BAM on Saturday. And on Sunday, head over to Bay Ridge for Brooklyn’s second, and last, big St. Patrick’s Parade of 2023.

Friday, March 24
A Guided Coffee Tasting @ Sereneco
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
If you’re in the mood for free coffee (and who isn’t?), head over to Sereneco in Greenpoint on Friday for a guided tasting. Brooklyn roaster Loveless Coffee will sample roasts from Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, Burundi, and Kenya. And stick around for one of Sereneco’s delicious smoked salmon croissants or whipped ricotta (but those aren’t free!). 113 Franklin Street.

The Soul Rebels, the eight-piece New Orleans-based brass band continue their annual tradition of bringing their soul, jazz, funk and hip-hop horns to the Brooklyn Bowl this weekend. On Friday they’ll be joined by special guest Black Though, emcee of the legendary Roots crew. Saturday, they’ll be joined by special guest Elle Garner, the Grammy-winning Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter. $27-$30. 61 Wythe Avenue.
Queer stand-up comedy
7 to 9 p.m.
Don’t Tell Your Mother! is a queer stand-up comedy show coming to Café Calaca in Bed-Stuy. Sean Thomasson hosts a line-up that includes Reid Pope, Glo Butler, and John Farnsworth. You can nab tickets at their Eventbrite page for a donation, and while you’re there, we recommend Café Calaca’s mouth-watering Chilaquiles Rojos. 505 Franklin Ave.
Top 8 Live at Brooklyn Bowl

Finally, a party for nostalgic millennials! Head over to Brooklyn Bowl on Friday night for a night of Y2K bops. Call up your Top 8 from Myspace and bring a checklist of 2000s party mix must-haves: Nelly, The Postal Service, Modest Mouse, Usher and Blink-182. 21+. 61 Wythe Avenue. Tickets are $28.

Vaivén Circo at BAM

BAMkids presents the U.S. premiere of Vaivén Circo’s “Esencial,” a cirque theater staging of “Waldorf’s Rainbow.” These world-class Spanish acrobats welcome children to see their story performed through circus stunts. Kids will be entertained by their aerial skills and learn the basics of team building and collaboration through Vaivén’s performance through innovative architecture. Age 6+. 321 Ashland Place. Jazz: The Women’s Viewpoint
3 to 5 p.m.
The Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium presents “Jazz: The Women’s ViewPoint” on Saturday. The Marcia Burris Ensemble will perform the music of Carmen McRae, one of the 20th century’s most influential jazz vocalists. The concert and luncheon are free thanks to hosts at Brown Memorial Baptist Church’s Women’s Day Committee & Fine Arts Club. 52 Gates Avenue.
“War Dreamer”
7 p.m.
Loading Dock Theatre presents the original play “War Dreamer” on Saturday night. Loading Dock was formed by playwright/director Leegrid Stevens and actor Erin Treadway in Brooklyn to explore the extremes in human behavior, producing character-driven plays with an experimental edge. Leegrid Stevens wrote “War Dreamer” as a showcase of veteran trauma. Check out the show’s trailer for a taste of the show. 170 Tillary Street. Tickets start at $31.

28th Annual Bay Ridge Saint Patrick’s Parade
1 p.m.
Just when you thought it was safe to put away the green garments, the 28th annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick’s Day Parade is here with enough Guinness to go around. Grab a pint at Pippin’s Pub and join the revelry at 3rd and Marine Avenues for Brooklyn’s last St. Patrick’s soiree until 2024.
PS 321 Staff Band Concert
3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Park Slope’s PS 321 put a faculty band together to raise money for their school. This local-favorite concert features neighborhood teachers and special guests. Tickets will go toward funding PS 321’s enrichment programs. Free for children under 4. 180 7th Avenue. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the show.
WOOF: Please Don’t Stop the Music // FEMIN-ish
7 p.m.
The Brooklyn Comedy Collective presents “WOOF: Please Don’t Stop the Music // FEMIN-ish” on Sunday night. The two shows are short comedies performed by local actors. “Please Don’t Stop the Music” is a musical comedy by Jesse Roth and “FEMIN-ish” is a play by the sketch comedy group A Series of Unfortunate Folks. Karaoke & Dinner
7 to 11 p.m.
333 Lounge will host a dinner party with “a twist of karaoke” on Sunday night. The lounge’s Chef Ceasar will serve a feast for the evening while guests sing their favorite soca, reggae, R&B, and hip hop songs. Rum punch is 2 for 1 all night long, so those karaoke all-stars should be a lot of fun around 8:30 p.m. 333 Flatbush Avenue.
