Celebrate Easter (or not)! 13 things to do this holiday weekend

Don your favorite bonnet and join the annual Bed-Stuy Easter Parade on Saturday. Not feeling very Eastery? Fear not, you can embrace your world from within or you can queer the canon instead.

Otherwise, there’s a bunch of holiday fare this weekend, including a family-friendly gathering at Time Out Market and the adults-only Easter egg hunts at Libre Garden and the William Vale.

There’s an Easter Sunday service plus egg hunt at St. John’s Park Slope and a showcase of Central American bands playing at Baby’s All Right.

It might barely scratch the 50s temperature-wise this weekend, but all the fun stuff is happening outside. So bundle up:

Friday, April 7

Little Rascal’s fundraiser for earthquake-stricken Turkey
Various times
Throughout April, Little Rascal, a Greenpoint cocktail bar with Turkish roots, is doing their part to contribute to rebuild the homeland after an earthquake struck in February. To help, the bar is donating all proceeds from fan-favorite Baklava ($12 each) to help feed those affected. Little Rascal’s owners Halil and Öner Gündogdu partnered with Turev Uladag, and so far have launched four kitchens in four different locations throughout Turkey to provide around 100,000 meals every day to those left hungry and homeless from the tragedy. Good Friday Service at St. Ann & the Holy Trinity
6 to 7 p.m.
St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church hosts a Good Friday service that includes sung passages from the Passion story. It’s not a light-hearted service but it is one of the most unique holy days Christians commemorate every year. 157 Montague Street Brooklyn.

New York Premiere of “Birthing Justice”
6:30 to 9 p.m.
Black mothers are three to four times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women in the United States, and a new documentary about America’s broken maternal care system debuts at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum on Friday. “Birthing Justice,” from Women in the Room Productions, tells the story of several women and explores why giving birth is so dangerous for Black women and their babies. A panel discussion follows the screening. 145 Brooklyn Avenue. Free.

The Stuntsz Factory
10 p.m.
The Stuntsz Factory at SILO Brooklyn is a queer party that reclaims house and techno music for the queer people who created it. The genre was created by and for marginalized people seeking community, and the call for a free and equal society is built into its DNA. This month’s party feature DJs Coach Chris, Sekucci, and Oscar Nñ to capture the “boiler room” essence where the music, DJ, and crowd all come together as one. Comes for a special experience on the dance floor. 90 Scott Avenue. Tickets are $45.

Saturday, April 8

Easter Celebration at Time Out Market
9:30 a.m. to noon
Hop over to Time Out Market New York on Saturday and Sunday for a springtime Easter celebration. Time Out will host an Easter egg hunt with prizes, free doughnuts from Dough Doughnuts and free ice cream from Sugar Hill Creamery. Be sure to pick up an Easter goodie bag with complimentary tickets to Jane’s Carousel, and a photo with the Easter Bunny for the whole family. 55 Water Street. Tickets are $60 per 1 parent/1 child.

The annual Bed-Stuy Easter Parade
10:30 a.m.
Who needs Manhattan? Bed-Stuy has its own annual parade leaving from Fulton Park on Saturday morning. Join the procession to Restoration Plaza, where children can expect raffles, face painting, live entertainment, bouncy houses, and “the best Easter baskets in the world,” says event organizer Bishop Chantel Wright. Stick around for an Easter Bonnet Strut following the parade at noon. 70 Chauncey Street. Free.

Bunny, I’m Home ~ Adult Easter Egg Hunt
6 p.m.
This oughta be Egg-citing: Libre Garden will sprinkle the garden with adults-only eggs every half hour beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Participants get to find just one. Try your luck, you just might win cash, chocolate, a token for a free drink at the bar, bath bombs, mini perfumes — or a prank. Libre also has garden games like Jumbo Connect Four and Jenga, along with new spring drinks like their Pink Pusey Margarita. We told you it was adults only! 1499 Fulton Street. Tickets are $7.

Cancellation Island: A Problemagic Live Podcast Recording
7 to 10 p.m.
John Cameron Mitchell, creator and star of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” believes that in the future “we will all be canceled for 15 minutes.” His new podcast with Michael Cavadias, “Cancellation Island,” imagines where everyone does their time in social purgatory, and they’re recording it live on Saturday and Sunday nights at The Bell House. The podcast tells the story of an island rehab for canceled people that asks the question, “In a world where all news is fake, are all stories true?” There will be a surprise all-star cast and audience participation. Sunday, April 9

Easter Sunday at St. John’s
10 a.m.
Easter at St. John’s Park Slope will be a jubilant affair with music, and coffee, all followed by an Easter egg hunt in the courtyard. Check out what St. John’s calls one of their “most beautiful” services of the year. 138 St. John’s Place.

Green Meadows Farm Easter Egg Hunt
11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Did you know there’s a farm in Brooklyn? Green Meadows hosts their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday (and various dates in April). The whole family is invited to hunt for colorful eggs, explore the Bunny House, and discover the farm playground. Your ticket also includes a picture with the Easter bunny, a hayride, and visits with tons of animals like alpacas and ponies. 3159 Flatbush Avenue. Tickets are $14 per person, two and above.

“Cinderella” puppet show
12:30 and 2:30 p.m.
Puppetworks hosts their spring marionette show “Cinderella” on Saturdays and Sundays through April 16. Come and enjoy the classic adapted for marionettes by Nicolas Coppola. Reservations are strongly suggested and performances last 55 minutes. Suggested for ages 3 and up. 338 Sixth Avenue (at 4th Street). Tickets are $10 for children and $11 for adults.

Adult Easter Egg Hunt at the William Vale
2 p.m.
This adult Easter egg hunt kicks off with a cocktail upon arrival. Nice. Tap into that childhood nostalgia/trauma of frantically scavenging for colorful eggs for the chance to win prizes like pizza classes at The Williamsburg Market, floral arrangements from Hanato Floral Design Studio, dinners for two at Westlight and Leuca, and even a one-night stay at The William Vale. $39.47.

Easy Easy at Baby’s All Right
6:30 p.m. doors, 7:30 p.m. show
The Guatemalan four-piece Easy Easy bring their vibey sounds to Baby’s All Right on Sunday. They’re performing in a showcase of bands from the tape label Citrus City. Check out the eclectic line-up of Quelle Rox, Easy Easy, Pedazo de Carne Con Ojo, Sargasso, and Belly of the Heart for yourself on Sunday night. 146 Broadway. Tickets are $15.
