10 of the city’s best restaurants are coming together in ‘drive-thru’ event next month
Sofreh, Red Hook Tavern and Bonnie's are some of the Brooklyn restaurants featured in the two-night event, organized by Resy
Ten of the city’s best restaurants are converging in one place at a two-night, drive-thru event on the Greenpoint waterfront.
Resy Drive-Thru New York will be held at Skyline Drive-In where guests who pay for the $110 ticket will be driven around in golf carts to feast on a variety of dishes that add up a 10-course tasting menu. Half of the featured restaurants are based in Brooklyn.
Notably, Cantonese-American darling Bonnie’s will be serving yao yu, which is a marinated grilled squid dish, Persian eatery Sofreh will dish out saffron shrimp, and Red Hook Tavern, which has recovered from its fire earlier this year, will be cooking up miniature versions of their mouth-watering burger. Also, Frankies Spuntino is serving roasted cauliflower with their branded organic extra virgin olive oil.
There will of course also be libations in addition to DJ-provided tunes.
The event is on Friday, September 16 and Saturday, September 17, with tickets now on sale for certain American Express card holders (AmEx is the event sponsor). Similar events Miami and Los Angeles quickly sold out, Resy notes, adding that the outdoor event was inspired from the pandemic as a safer way to eat out.
AmEx previously bought Noma, one of the world’s best restaurants based in Copenhagen, to Brooklyn earlier this spring. However, in a very 2022 move, its head chef René Redzepi couldn’t make the event because of Covid and guests that paid the $700 fee were refunded. Hopefully this outdoor event fares better.
