Roll-N-Roaster brings back cottage fries after a 16-month absence
Wedge-shaped replacement potatoes are out. Cottage fries are back beginning immediately, ending our collective nightmare
Our 16-month nightmare is over. Roll-N-Roaster has brought back their cottage fries.
The Sheepshead Bay roast beef institution surprised the borough with announcement Monday that their “OG fries” are back, meaning that cottage fries have returned and the wedge-shaped replacement potatoes are out.
The announcement was met with universal praise, if their Instagram post is any indication. “Thank the lord,” one person commented. Another added: “THE NEWS WEVE BEEN WAITING FOR.” Roll-N-Roaster also confirmed on the post that cottage fries are on sale beginning immediately.
In February 2022, the 53-year-old restaurant shocked their loyal customers with the potato change, which they blamed on supply chain issues. Supplier Lamb Weston discontinued production of cottage fries, forcing restaurant clients like Roll-N-Roaster and JG Melon to find alternatives.
Brooklyn Magazine checked back in with Mill Basin native Jordan Cohen, who told us last year that he was sad the “Brooklyn classic” was gone. Today, he told us that he’s “thrilled to see the return of the original cottage fries,” adding that his “summer just got better.”
