These are the most expensive neighborhoods in Brooklyn
What pandemic? Borough-wide, the median real estate sales price was up more than $100,000 in 2020. Cobble Hill topped the list, again
As we move on from 2020 (may we never speak of it again), it’s almost irresistible to a look at the impact the pandemic had on New York real estate (we’re going to speak of it again, aren’t we?).
In a city where real estate is a bloodsport, the streets tend to run more green than red. But 2020 was an anomaly. And was an especially hard year for Manhattan. Still, New Yorkers who didn’t flee upstate continued to seek refuge in Brooklyn, where some bubbles never burst. Borough-wide, the median 2020 sales price in Brooklyn was $900,000, up from $795,000 in 2019, according to online real estate marketplace PropertyClub, which has compiled this list of the city’s 50 most expensive neighborhoods.
Noho tops the list as the most expensive neighborhood in the five boroughs, with a median sales price of $3.25 million, down significantly from the previous year’s $3.92 million.
In all, 19 Brooklyn neighborhoods made it into the top 50 this year, with Cobble Hill the most expensive in the borough for the second year running. Prices there averaged $1.64 million, down slightly from $1.88 million, according to a ProrpertyClub rep. Prices were also above $1.5 million in Carroll Gardens and Boerum Hill.
For its 2020 list, PropertyClub says they examined at all recorded closed sales for residential property in New York City for 2020.
