Looklyn: Caffeinated cowboy couture
In this installment of our street style series, we meet Markiss, who takes his fashion cues from Kanye, Pharrell, cowboys and motorcycles
Street style isn’t necessarily the same thing as “fashion.” It’s … more personal. It’s rooted in self, an outward expression of attitude, vibe, swag, panache, aspiration, time and place. In this semi-regular series called Looklyn, we hold a mirror up to the borough to show us how we dress now … and what it tells us about who we are.
Here, photographer Johnny Cirillo introduces us to Markiss, a coffee entrepreneur with a fashion habit.
Name: Markiss Koffee
Age: 40
How you identify: As a human
Occupation: Coffee consultant/cafe owner, fashion designer, stylist
Where are you heading? To the moon
Fashion inspo: Kanye, Pharrell, cowboys, motorcycles
About the fit: My Fit for the day was inspired by my recent motorcycle injuries … lol. I cropped my shirt cut the sleeves off throw some shorts on and some vans to just be comfortable. Moto leather always.
About me: I am a coffee professional, fashion designer as well as fashion customizer and stylist. Music is always in the background of everything that I do. Fashion and coffee, to me, as well as music has always gone together, and I’ve been trying to fuse the three for the last 15 years.
Thoughts on life: A lot of us are still figuring it out. The best part of my day is when my son steps into the cafe to witness his old man in his element. And that’s all I got.
