Tweets of the week: Endless test lines and a beach comes to Williamsburg
Also, Regina King is tapped to play Shirley Chisholm and Peter Pan Donut and Pastry Shop gets its own special moment in the spotlight
Every week we here at Brooklyn Magazine read the entire internet in order to curate (some of) our favorite tweets from the previous seven days. These are locally sourced, hand-crafted, organically grown, free range nuggets of wisdom and jest.
This week, we all endured endless lines for Covid tests. Some of us actually managed to be funny about it.
On the celebrity front, Brooklyn icon Shirley Chisholm’s Netflix biopic is a go—and she will be played by Regina King. Gabriel Boric, Chile’s 35-year-old new president, could easily be mistaken as a local dirtbag … and if he had tickets to see LCD Soundsystem at Brooklyn Steel, he was out of luck. And a beloved Greenpoint institution gets a cameo in “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”
On the community front, incoming Borough President Antonio Reynoso is hiring … and Bushwick Daily needs your help. Read all about it below. And if you see something worth including next week, let us know. In the meantime, have a lovely (or as-lovely-as-you can) holiday week. Here are a few (safe) goings-on this weekend.

They’re gonna be talking about Bushwick/Bed-Stuy in these days like they do SoHo/LES in the ’70s: a place where young people from all over the country lived, worked, and played while realizing their dreams. Give it a few years.

Lost my house keys in the dog park, so if you see an unhinged editor on her hands and knees in Fort Greene navigating piles of dog shit and frantically digging though the dirt like a Yellowjackets character while also frequently checking her slack notifications, it me

letting aaron sorkin write about a writers’ room is like letting me write about a bunch of lesbians sitting around an apartment in bushwick smoking weed and comparing hinge matches (self-indulgent)

I went to Peter Pan Donuts in Greenpoint in the morning to get my favorite neighborhood bagel, and then that night I saw Spider-Man only to see MJ work there? Where I just was? Was this… a sign? Am I… Spider-Man?

it has been brought to my attention that in the spider-man MJ works at peter pan donuts which i do appreciate but as a high schooler traveling from forest hills to greenpoint for an after school job……no thank you
