Brooklyn Borough President’s first act of business: Ban parking at Borough Hall Plaza
Newly installed 'Beep' Antonio Reynoso is banning cars from parking at Borough Hall Plaza, marking a stark reversal from his predecessor
Newly installed Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso is saying “beep beep” to cars that park at Borough Hall Plaza in downtown Brooklyn.
He has banned them from parking in the busy pedestrian thorough-way, reversing the policy of his predecessor, newly-elected Mayor Eric Adams, that let his employees park there. New signs, as seen below, now greet drivers and warn their asses will be towed.

Adams caught flack for much of his eight-year tenure for allowing cars to park in the area. In 2019, the Parks Department launched a review into the employee perk, though Adams remained defiant, claiming he was merely extending a practice from his predecessors.
Reynoso’s change was greeted with approval from the borough’s residents on Twitter.
“Bravo! Incredible that it takes executive authority to enforce a basic law like this, and also incredibly damning for Adams’ so called pedestrian friendly administration. This is going to be a challenging 4 years,” wrote one person.
“The casual disrespect of public place when government employees flout parking laws is a terrible look. Yeah it’s not the biggest issue but cleaning it up sends the right message,” another person added.
One other person points that this actually a nearly century-old problem and that they’re happy they don’t have to talk about it any more.
