Tweets of the week: Barbados dreams and snowy scenes
For the week ending Feb. 4, we remind you that it snowed mere days ago ... and we remind you the proper way to order pastrami
Every week we at Brooklyn Magazine read the entire internet in order to curate (some of) our favorite tweets from the previous seven days. These are locally sourced, hand-crafted, organically grown, free range nuggets of wisdom and jest.
This week … maybe you’ve heard it snowed? With temps ramping up now and the snow reduced to a slushy gray sludge, we revisit how lovely the borough looked for a brief moment.
In non-weather-related tweets, you all had a lot on you minds—from Captain America’s imaginary run-ins with birds to Mike Tyson’s very real love of pigeons. On the more serious side of things, we look at a fight for improved heating conditions, redistricting weirdness and we celebrate a gem of a Crown Heights school.
Speaking of schools, one bodega teaches us the proper way to order a sandwich in Brooklyn. Also, for the grown-ups, a little sex shop solidarity and a CNN-Succession mind-meld with a special local spin. Enjoy, and have a great weekend—here are a few things to check out while you’re at it—and tag us in tweets you think should be included next week.

Flatbush. And this is my personal hobbyhorse because sometimes I take my kid to school on it but the B12, which serves the Kings County Hospital Center, has no bus infrastructure at all, an insane route, terrible stop spacing, and is constantly bunched and slow

Mike Tyson has always loved Pigeons 😍
“I’ve always had pigeons my whole life, since I was 8, 9 years old, that’s just what we do in Brooklyn, New York, we fly pigeons. I don’t know why, but that’s just what we do.” pic.twitter.com/uo1Bc02LLk

And though it’s hard to believe it’s been less than a week, here are a few stellar snowy scenes:
