Brooklyn Magazine launches NFT auction to support communities in Brooklyn and Ukraine
Cover art from our inaugural fall 2021 issue to be auctioned for charity on OpenSea. Auction ends March 18. Bid today!
As we noted upon our relaunch last year, we see the mission of the new Brooklyn Magazine as a unifying one: We aim to cover Brooklyn communities that are rebuilding, persevering and creating.
It’s with this mission in mind that we are announcing today an NFT auction of the cover art featured on the inaugural Brooklyn Magazine fall 2021 issue. The issue was printed with four different front covers, each of which has been minted into an NFT.
The auction begins Tuesday, March 8, 2022 on OpenSea and ends next Friday, March 18, 2022 at 12:59 p.m. EST.

For some, NFTs are investments in valuable collectables. For others, they’re the modern-day equivalent of the Dutch tulip bubble. And while we’re still not quite sure how any of this stuff works, this NFT auction is yet another way for us to show support for the communities we care about, live in and cover.
Every dollar raised during the auction will go directly to two impactful charities we admire—Brooklyn Community Services and UJA-Federation of New York—both working to strengthen communities in our backyard and, in the case of UJA, those affected by the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
- Brooklyn Community Services works in neighborhoods impacted by systemic poverty. They strengthen communities by fostering the educational success of children, the leadership development of youth, the employment and housing stability of adults, the advancement of individuals living with disabilities, and the empowerment of seniors and families.
- UJA-Federation of New York is the world’s largest local philanthropy, funding hundreds of nonprofits, local and global, to tackle today’s most pressing problems head-on. Proceeds from our auction will go directly to UJA’s Crisis Fund which is meeting the urgent and mounting humanitarian crisis in Ukraine – providing food, shelter, transport, and emergency medical supplies.
Each auction winner will also receive (er, unlock?) $100 in official Brooklyn Magazine merch, as well as a one-year subscription to Brooklyn Magazine.
