Brooklyn Brewery is moving from its Williamsburg spot after 30 years
It's not going far, though: The beloved brewer is relocating four blocks north to the Greenpoint-Williamsburg border
Brooklyn Brewery, a mainstay in the heart of Williamsburg, is leaving its spot after more than three decades. However, it’s not going too far.
The beloved brewer is moving to a new location four blocks north at a new development that borders the Greenpoint-Williamsburg border. Scheduled to open in the summer of 2024, the new space at 1 Wythe will be roughly 10,000-square-feet bigger than its current location and have a taproom, corporate offices and brewing operations.
“When we moved to Williamsburg in 1991, spaces were practically being given away since the neighborhood was
considered pretty sketchy,” CEO Eric Ottaway, said in a release. “Obviously, Williamsburg has completely transformed, and is now one of the most desirable neighborhoods in the city.”
Since it opened at 11th North Street in 1991, the neighborhood has transformed from an artist enclave to a vibrant (and very expensive) neighborhood with luxury apartments and stores. Along with it, Brooklyn Brewery has expanded its reach internationally and keeps growing its product line.
It has been searching for a new spot for the past few years after its building was sold in 2017. Commercial Observer reports that the brewer considered other locations in the borough, including Sunset Park and Bushwick, but the company went with the new spot because of a special zoning permit for the building.
