Ample Hills is selling Brooklyn Nets-themed ice cream for the team’s 10th birthday
What's a better way to celebrate escaping New Jersey a decade ago than with "Birthday Swishes" ice cream?
Somehow it’s been 10 years since the Nets relocated to Brooklyn and now the team is celebrating in the sweetest way possible … with ice cream.
In honor of its adoptive home, the NBA team is partnering with Brooklyn-based Ample Hills Creamery on two new flavors to celebrate Nets’ decade-long residence. The flavors were inspired by the team’s home court at the Barclays Center and is served in festive packaging with the brand’s characters wearing Nets’ jerseys.
The first new flavor is “Birthday Swishes: Home Court Advantage,” which features dark chocolate cake ice cream with white frosting swirls and black, white and silver sprinkles. Ample Hills said in a press release that it’s a “nod to the Nets’ black Icon uniforms that debuted 10 years ago” and is still worn by the team. The flavor is sold exclusively at the Barclays Center.
The second flavor, which will be sold at its shops in pints and scoops, is “Birthday Swishes: Away Game.” The ice cream comes packed with white birthday cake and has chocolate frosting swirls, house-made chocolate cake batter bites and black, white, and silver sprinkles. As it won’t be sold at the Barclays Center, this flavor is meant to reflect the Nets’ away team uniforms.
For Barclays Center, it’s a continuation of featuring Brooklyn-based businesses at the arena. Last year, a Brooklyn-themed food market made its debut featuring eateries from the borough. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Nets’ organization that is s “dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals of all ages.”
