Tweets of the week: ‘Welcome to Venice, Jerko’
We’re feeling like a pig on a leash as we contemplate rents — and the typical Manhattanite's cluelessness around Brooklyn geography
Every week (more or less) we try to read the entire internet so you don’t have to and curate (some of) our favorite tweets from the previous seven days.
This weekend we’ll be watching pint-sized rapper Lola Burke make her “East New York” debut, appreciating walkable cities with mixed-use zoning, and trimming our underarm hair.
In no particular order, here are your locally sourced, organically grown, free-range observations as we enter the first week of March (only eight days til we turn the clocks forward).

People who ain't from here don't understand how big Brooklyn is. Don't "just-come-through" me if I'm in Canarsie and your event is in LES.
C'mon.

The depressed queers of Bushwick asked me if I was rewatching HBO’s Girls and when I said I never watched it in the first place they took turns punching me in the stomach outside of Mood Ring

When you walk into a wburg/bushwick restaurant with random hipster stuff on the wall, you're basically walking into an evolved tgi fridays

The Alpine Theater in Bay Ridge still charges just $6 to see a movie. A true life hack. It was also renovated fairly recently. High marks all around.

Today’s shot of February optimism comes to us courtesy a teenager who is walking down 4th Street in Park Slope, Brooklyn in 40 degree weather while carrying a surfboard and wearing shorts.

Remembering the time I witnessed a Park Slope dad explaining to his 6 year old daughter how it's "gauche" to bring your own food to a restaurant

Greenpoint report: A woman in a minivan pulled up blaring “Nookie” loud enough to hear through the closed car windows. This has been the Greenpoint report.

I've now come to the conclusion that williamsburg is a little mini college town for mid 20s-early 30 year olds

If I ever pivot to right wing media and get rich I’m going to stay in Brooklyn. I’ll live in a $3 million brownstone in Cobble Hill with a giant American flag out front. All my neighbors will hate me and when my son asks why he has no friends I’ll be like “They’re jealous.”

#OTD in #MLB history (3/4/1912): Charles Ebbets breaks ground for his team's new Bedford Avenue ballpark. The Brooklyn Superbas' (who would be renamed the Dodgers) Flatbush venue would become a beloved home for forty-four years. #EbbetsField pic.twitter.com/kxCfUnrv6U
