Interboro is closing its Brooklyn taproom after seven years in business

The brewery and distillery is moving its operations upstate after December 31 for unspecified reasons

Interboro, Brooklyn’s first combined craft brewery and distillery, is closing its taproom after seven years in business.

The final day for its East Williamsburg spot, located at 942 Grand Street, is December 31. No specific details were revealed as to why it’s closing except for a short comment on Instagram: “Life is just a party and parties aren’t meant to last … we’re gonna have to move our operations,” the business explained.

Interboro will still continue to make its craft beers and spirits upstate with a new tasting room set to open next year. An exact location wasn’t immediately revealed.

Interboro opened in 2016 with a lineup of cheeky beers, like Bushburg Pilsner, fan favorite whiskeys and gins and eventually expanded into canned cocktails.

Fans were understandably upset about another closure in Brooklyn. “This one hurts. Love y’all and your beer!,” one person wrote on its Facebook. Another added: “The most New York brewery won’t have a NYC spot anymore?”

Interboro is just the latest in a growing list of Brooklyn businesses either shutting down or closing their physical space. Fort Defiance in Red Hook served its last meal on December 3, and last week Blue Marble ice cream announced it would be closing its last remaining scoop shop on December 24. Also last week, the women-owned King Mother wine bar in Ditmas Park announced it will be closing in January after four years in business.
